How does verifying my identity work?
Confirming your identity helps builds trust in the community and increases the likelihood that your booking request is accepted by notifying property owners and managers that you are a verified guest.
Will I have to confirm my identity more than once?
We recommend that you create a traveler account and log in prior to sending a booking request to ensure that you do not need to confirm your identity more than once.
What type of information do I need to provide to confirm my identity?
To confirm your identity, we may ask that you verify information, such as your first and last name, email address, mobile phone number, physical address and birth date.
What information is shared with the homeowner or property manager?
HomeAway values your privacy. Once confirmed, property owners and managers will simply see that you are a verified traveler. Like all booking requests, after your request is accepted, your basic contact information (i.e. email, phone) is shared with the homeowner or property manager so that you may keep in contact regarding your trip.
Do I have to confirm my identity in order to use the site or book a property?
It is not currently required for you to confirm your identity in order to use the site or book a property. However, confirming your identity helps build trust with property owners and managers so that your booking requests are more likely to be accepted. Note, if booking a property in Spain it is a legal requirement to provide ID.
I received a message that my information could not be confirmed at this time. What does that mean?
Your booking request has been sent to the homeowner or property manager, but we were unable to confirm your information at this time. You may be prompted to verify your information again the next time you submit a booking request.
