While setting house rules isn’t mandatory, they're highly encouraged.

Follow these steps to add or edit your house rules in a few minutes.
  1. Log in to your Vrbo account.
  2. If you have more than one listing, select the one you want to edit.
  3. Select Property.
  4. Select Rules & policies.
  5. Select the House rules tab.
  6. Add/edit your house rules using the predefined options:
    • Maximum overnight guests
    • Minimum age requirement of primary renter
    • Events allowed
    • Pets allowed
    • Children allowed*
    • Smoking allowed
  7. Add or edit your Custom rules.
    • Note: You can set up to 3 custom rules.
  8. Select Save.
*If your vacation rental is in Australia or New Zealand, age restrictions are against local policy.

Note: If you're connected via property management software, please update your house rules in your software.

Add details to your rules
Some house rules let you add specific details about your requirements. For example:
  • You can add information like the pet type and size permitted at your property.
  • You can add more details for guests with a custom note (up to 50 characters) in each rule.
  • You can add information about local regulations. For example, if you need to request an ID from your guests before check-in.
  • Next to each house rule, select Edit note for guests if you’d like to add any essential information that travelers should know before booking your property.
