About Vrbo’s minimum standards for listings
Vrbo’s Minimum Standards program reinforces quality expectations across the marketplace. By removing consistently underperforming listings, the program directs more traffic to hosts who deliver high-quality stays.
How does the program work?
Vrbo's Minimum Standards program is an automated quality program that continuously evaluates listing performance based on the previous 12 months of activity. Starting September 15, 2026, Vrbo will remove a listing if it does not meet one or more of the following standards:
- Acceptance rate greater than 50%
- Host-initiated cancellation rate lower than 10%
- Average guest review rating higher than 2.0
How will I know if my listing meets Vrbo’s minimum standards?
If your listing meets the minimum standard requirements, you won’t receive any notification about its status.
If your listing is approaching or falls below one or more minimum standards, Vrbo will notify you (starting August 31, 2026) and provide guidance to help improve performance.
When your listing's performance moves out of the warning zone, Vrbo will send you a confirmation email.
At-risk listings (warning zone)
If your listing is at risk of falling below one or more minimum standards:
- You'll receive a notification email from Vrbo.
- You'll also receive a message in the Owner Dashboard explaining your listing's status.
- Your listing will remain active and available for booking.
What to do
- Use the link in the email or Owner Dashboard message to open your listing's Ranking Metrics page.
- Review the performance details and metrics on the page.
- Follow the recommended actions to improve your listing's performance.
You'll also receive additional guidance and tips through:
- The Owner Dashboard
- The Vrbo Owner mobile app
Listings below standard
If your listing falls below one or more minimum standards, you'll receive a notification email from Vrbo and a message in the Owner Dashboard explaining your listing's status.
- The listing will be permanently suspended from receiving future reservations.
- Existing confirmed reservations should still be honored. Travelers with confirmed bookings are not affected.
- In the Owner Dashboard, you can review the reason for the suspension and learn how to avoid suspension for your other listings.
- If your listing fell below standard because you had to cancel reservations or decline booking requests due to an unforeseen event or extenuating circumstance, you may be eligible for a Cancellation Waiver or Booking Request Decline Waiver. These waivers help ensure that unavoidable cancellations or declined booking requests do not negatively affect your standing in the marketplace.
- To learn which situations may qualify for a waiver, see About cancellation and acceptance waivers.
- If you believe your property qualifies for a waiver, contact Vrbo Support using the Contact Us button at the bottom of this page.
- If you have questions about this decision or believe this action was taken in error, contact Vrbo support by using the Contact Us button at the end of this page.
