About identity verification
Benefits of confirming your identity
Confirming your identity helps builds trust in the community. Hosts are also more likely to accept booking requests from verified guests. However, it isn’t currently required for you to confirm your identity to use the site or book a property.
Notes:
- When booking a property in Spain, it’s a legal requirement to provide ID.
- When booking a property in Italy, be prepared for the host to ask for your ID.
Information required to confirm your identity
To confirm your identity, we may ask that you verify the following information:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Mobile phone number
- Physical address
- Date of birth
Booking best practice
- Create a Vrbo account.
- Log in to your account, before sending a booking request to ensure that you don’t need to confirm your identity more than once.
Identify confirmation failed
If you receive a message saying that your information couldn’t be confirmed at this time, you may be prompted to verify your information again the next time you submit a booking request.
Note: Your message is still delivered to the host.
Your privacy
We value your privacy. Once confirmed, hosts only see that you’re a verified guest. After your request is accepted, your basic contact information, such as your email and phone number, is shared with your host.
