Important: This information is for Integrated Property Managers (IPMs).

IPMs are the Merchant of Record and therefore cannot claim damages through the Vrbo dashboard. You may not market or sell your own damage or travel insurance on our platform, or market or sell damage waivers.

Protect against damages

See options for protecting against damages below:

  • Contact your software provider and/or your payment processor to inquire about damage protections offered.
  • Add a refundable damage deposit or security deposit as a part of your rates.
  • Invoice and charge travelers directly for damages.
  • Require that travelers sign a legal rental agreement before arriving at the property, communicating how you expect your property to be treated during their stay.

Note: Vrbo cannot assist in processing damage charges to a traveler.

Traveler insurance

Property Damage Protection (PDP) is optional insurance purchased by travelers to help protect them from paying out for accidental damage to your property. This is offered through a third-party insurance company, Generali.
