Host with Confidence™ is a host-paid protection program designed for Vrbo hosts. It gives you enhanced support for property damage, lost rental income from guest-caused damage, and chargebacks on eligible bookings.

Note: Host with Confidence is currently available as an invite only Beta program. 

How Host with Confidence works

Once you opt in, eligible bookings include Host with Confidence for a per-night fee deducted from your payout. It automatically applies to future eligible bookings until you opt out.

Host with Confidence is designed to:

  • Provide enhanced protection
    • Helps cover property damage caused by guests, certain excess cleaning costs, qualifying lost rental income from covered damage, and eligible chargebacks. 
    • The program gives you access to an insurance policy issued by our trusted insurance partner. Learn more about details on coverage.
  • Work automatically once enabled
    •  No separate setup required, it auto-applies to all future eligible bookings.
  • Reduce booking friction for guests
    • Helps create a smoother booking experience by avoiding the need for large upfront deposits or additional guest charges.
  • Help minimize guest disputes
    • Helps minimize disputes with guests about damages by allowing hosts to directly submit claims with our trusted insurance partner.

Opt in

You can enable Host with Confidence from your Vrbo account:

  1. Log in to your account
  2. Navigate to the listing you want to be opted in
  3. Select Rules & Policies from the left side menu
  4. Go to the Property protection tab
  5. Opt in to Host with Confidence
Once you opt in, Host with Confidence applies to eligible future bookings for that listing, and the per night host fee will appear in your Pricing summary view for qualifying stays.

Opt out

You can opt out at any time:

  1. Return to your Property protection tab
  2. Select the option to opt out of Host with Confidence for your listing

When you opt out:

  • New bookings created after you opt out are not eligible for Host with Confidence.
  • Existing eligible bookings remain protected under the program’s rules, as long as they otherwise remain eligible.

Eligible bookings

Host with Confidence is available for certain listings and applies to eligible bookings only.

Eligible listings

  • US platform hosts on Vrbo with listings located in the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands may be invited to join.
  • You must opt into Host with Confidence program for each listing.

Eligible bookings

It applies only to eligible bookings that meet all program criteria:

  • Instant Book reservations 
  • Bookings that are made and completed on the Vrbo brand 

Bookings where Host with Confidence does not apply:

  • Request to book bookings are not eligible

If a booking is not eligible:

  • Vrbo will notify you via email on your registered email address
  • You will not be charged the Host with Confidence fee for that booking

How it appears to guests at checkout

Host with Confidence is a host facing program:

  • Guests do not see Host with Confidence as a product or option to select.
  • Guests are not asked to make additional damage protection choices at checkout.
  • Guests are not charged the Host with Confidence fee.

Guests enjoy a seamless booking experience as this removes the friction of required guest paid protection or large refundable damage deposits.

How to file a claim

Vrbo has co-created Host with Confidence with a trusted insurance partner to deliver a streamlined claims experience. Once opted-in, you’ll have access to their eClaims Portal from your Inbox for eligible bookings. From there, you can file a claim, communicate with support agents, and track claim progress.

File a claim

  1. Log in to your account
  2. From your Inbox, select the relevant booking to open the conversation.
  3. Go to the Property protection section under the pricing summary.
  4. Select File a claim with our trusted insurance partner.
  5. After you submit the claim form, our insurance partner will provide updates about your claim status by email.
