How the Loved by Guests program works

The Loved by Guests program uses review criteria and market comparisons to recognize top-performing properties.

When a property meets the program requirements, a badge appears on the listing:

  • The top 10% of eligible properties in a local market (city) are awarded the Loved by Guests badge.
  • The top 1% of eligible properties in a local market (city) are awarded:
    • The Loved by Guests badge
    • A special Top 1% callout in the listing’s Highlights section
Eligibility is recalculated regularly using review data. 

How badges attract travelers

Badges provide a clear signal of quality based on guest feedback. They help travelers quickly identify highly rated properties when comparing listings.

Loved by Guests and Premier Host

Both programs highlight quality, but they measure different levels of performance.

  • Premier Host recognizes the host.
    • Badges are awarded for consistently high host performance over time.
    • Premier Host reflects actions that are mostly within the host’s control.
  • Loved by Guests recognizes individual properties.
    • Badges are awarded to top-performing listings based on guest reviews and market rankings.
    • Loved by Guests is more competitive than Premier Host because it is both review-driven and market-relative.

 

Loved by Guests badge eligibility

A property must meet all the following requirements:

  • Minimum 9.6 overall review score
  • Minimum 5 total reviews
  • Minimum 9.0 review sub-score in each category:
    • Cleanliness
    • Location
    • Check-in and amenities
    • Property condition
  • Must meet a Performance Milestone (Good, Great, or Excellent)
  • Must be in the top 10% of reviews in the local market (city), time-weighted to favor properties with high recent scores.

How the top 10% is calculated

  • Each review score is time-weighted. Recent reviews have more impact than older reviews.
  • Scores are combined and ranked within each local market.
  • In smaller markets, fewer than 10% of properties may receive a badge if not enough listings meet the minimum requirements.

 

Top 1% eligibility

In addition to the Loved by Guests badge, eligible listings also display a Top 1% callout in the Highlights section.

To be eligible for the Top 1% callout, a property must meet all the following requirements:

  • Meet all Loved by Guests eligibility requirements
  • Rank in the top 1% of its local market
  • Achieve the Excellent Performance Milestone
