If you notice something is incorrect on your Form 1099-K, you may be able to request a correction. The following table describes the five corrections Vrbo can accommodate before the end of June.

Correction

Definition

Typos

Errors in the Payee’s name, address, or tax ID number without changing who the individual is (for example, Jane Dow needs to be corrected to Jane Doe)

Reconciliation errors

Confirmed errors in Box 1a or Box 3 on Form 1099-K

Payee changes

The Payee named on Form 1099-K is not the same as the bank account beneficiary (or bank account owner) of where the disbursements were sent (for example, Jane Doe needs to be changed to John Doe)

Consolidation requests

There are different Payees named on multiple 1099-K forms, but it should only be one, because disbursements were deposited into the same bank account with a single, or primary, beneficiary. This may result from having one or more W-9 forms on file with incorrect information within the calendar year.

Split requests

There is a single Payee named on a Form 1099-K but there should be multiple, because disbursements were deposited into multiple bank accounts with different account beneficiaries. This may result from having the same payee information on multiple W-9 forms for multiple bank accounts with different account beneficiaries (for example, disbursements were sent to separate bank accounts with different bank account owners, but the information on the W-9(s) only named a single Payee).

Typo corrections, payee changes, consolidation, and split requests

  1. Follow the steps in Complete your US tax profile. This process will send the bank account owner/beneficiary an email to log in and access their tax profile.
  2. If the correction is related to recorded dollar amounts, use the Contact Us button at the end of this page to submit your request.
    • Important: When you submit your request, you may be asked for supporting documentation such as, but not limited to, your personal reconciliation or a bank statement verifying the account beneficiary.

Reconciliation errors

Complete a reconciliation of your 1099-K. If your bank account(s) were associated with different tax IDs throughout the calendar year, even on the same listing in some instances, there will be a 1099-K for each tax ID if federal or state thresholds were met. To complete a full reconciliation, you may need to combine amounts across each 1099-K form.

If you need help reconciling your 1099-K at a transaction level, you should consult your tax advisor.
